The Role
IETA is looking for a Communications Advisor to join our small, fast-moving global comms team. You'll help shape as well as deliver our communications approach, with a hands-on role across content, design, social media, events, and media relations - helping tell the story of carbon markets to a global audience of policymakers, business leaders, and society. This is a great opportunity for a comms all-rounder who wants variety, autonomy, and real ownership of projects from day one.
Location
IETA operates globally, with most roles remote or hybrid. Some travel to events will be required. The preferred base for this role is South West England. Part Time considered.
What You'll Do
Content & Design
- Lead social media strategy and day-to-day content creation across platforms
- Develop and run social media campaigns tied to events and major publications
- Design reports, graphics, and other visual content, primarily in Canva
- Produce basic video content to support social and event campaigns
- Own website and social media analytics; track performance and present monthly updates to staff
Events
- Build and execute social campaigns for IETA events
- Draft eblasts (Mailchimp) for event promotion and follow-up
- Write post-event summary reports
- Set up, facilitate, and host webinars (including the IETA Quarterly Members' Webinar)

Media & Spokespeople
- Liaise with media and arrange interviews
- Develop briefing packs for company spokespeople
- Write IETA statements, press releases, and responses
- Prepare and compile a weekly news wrap covering IETA and broader carbon market media coverage, including sentiment
Member & Stakeholder Communications
- Support member newsletter preparation and publications
- Engage directly with IETA members and stakeholders to support organisational objectives
- Present to Working Groups on Communications initiatives from time to time (including pre- and post-Quarterly Members’ Webinars)
Website & External Partners
- Manage website content via CMS (Craft CMS experience preferred; WordPress or similar also welcome)
- Brief and manage external contractors and agencies (design, video, translation, and similar)
Policy Support
- Write and edit content in support of the policy team's advocacy and thought leadership work
- Coordinate communications with IETA's Working Groups
- Proofread outputs across the team
General
- Support wider comms activity as needed – this is a varied, hands-on role in a small team

About You
Essential
- 3–5 years' experience in a communications role
- Demonstrated experience leading social media strategy and content creation
- Experience using AI tools to support content creation or workflow
- Strong design skills, comfortable in Canva and PowerPoint; basic video editing skills
- Proven ownership of analytics and reporting – able to track performance across web and social, and translate data into clear updates for non-specialist audiences
- Strong proofreading and editing skills
- Proven CMS experience in Craft, WordPress, or similar software
- Experience briefing and managing external contractors or agencies
- Experience writing newsletters or member-facing publications
- Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities
- Comfortable working across time zones with a globally distributed team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Desirable
- Experience in carbon markets, climate policy, or a related field
- Experience with Mailchimp or similar email platforms
- Experience with InDesign
- Experience with Craft CMS
- Experience organising media interviews or supporting spokespeople
