Communications and Engagement Coordinator

Location: London

Working hours – Full time (35 hours per week). Standard working hours between 9am – 5pm.

Working arrangements – London, hybrid homeworking (minimum 6 days a month in office).

We have an exciting opportunity for a talented communications professional to join our team at the Federation of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the UK, based at RCP in London.

As the communications and engagement coordinator, you play a key role in the delivery of our communications strategy and support a wide range of projects and initiatives to support our internal and external stakeholders. Working closely with the head of communications, the communications and engagement manager and colleagues across the Federation you will help manage and grow our digital and social media channels, support stakeholder engagement, and deliver effective communications across multiple platforms. You will also contribute to the implementation and evaluation of our internal communications and engagement plan, helping to foster an informed and engaged workforce. Using insights and performance data, you will help assess the effectiveness of our communications and identify opportunities for continuous improvement. This is an exciting opportunity to build a broad range of communications skills and gain valuable experience across a diverse and dynamic communications portfolio.

Key responsibilities of the role:

  • Producing pro-active communications for our UK and international stakeholders and partners.
  • Monitor, develop and maintain the Federation website, ensuring content is relevant, up-to-date and timely.
  • Working closely with the communications and engagement manager and international partnerships coordinator to undertake international marketing activities and projects.
  • Commissioning and taking photographs/video for promotional and marketing purposes, liaising with suppliers as required.
  • Creating video and other multimedia content for use across all digital channels.
  • Providing support and expertise to the CPD and international teams to ensure communications to their stakeholders are timely and of high quality.
  • Taking a leading role in the monitoring of social media and the management enquiries, ensuring that these are delegated and responded to.
  • Working with designers to produce creative digital and print assets to support the Federation’s communication and marketing goals.
  • Supporting the development and delivery of the internal communications strategy including the conducting and analysing of staff surveys, ensuring the cascade of information to staff and updating intranet pages.
  • Producing and presenting reports on communications performance and effectiveness for the head of communications and the wider organisation.

Your experience and skills will include:

  • A communications or marketing degree or relevant knowledge and experience within a marketing, communications, or stakeholder engagement environment.
  • Knowledge and experience in using a range of communications and engagement tools
  • Experience of using a CRM and bulk email service
  • Experience of updating websites using a content management system
  • Strong social media skills and experience in a professional setting
  • Demonstrable copywriting skills for a range of communication channels in both print and digital
  • Experience in writing communications plans, particularly in targeting specific audiences
  • Able to work collaboratively and build relationships with colleagues to produce communication content
  • Good organisational and planning skills
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (to include Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint as a minimum)
  • A flexible, proactive and collaborative approach to work.
