Communications Assistant
About the Role
Staffordshire County Council is looking for a Communications Assistant to join our team.
You'll be working closely with the media team as well as our content creators and graphic designers. This role will mainly focus on social media, helping to answer questions, flagging issues to the right people in the organisation, crafting responses relating to many Staffordshire County Council issues, but with a particular focus on highways. This is part of our hard work to ‘Keep Staffordshire Moving’ and to ensure people are kept updated on what's happening in their area.
Main Responsibilities
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Writing content for social media, websites, and newsletters
- Using social media to support campaigns and media work
- Researching and reviewing campaigns
- Drafting, checking, and sending out campaign materials
- Creating videos, photos, and graphics
- Posting updates on our website and social media channels
- Reviewing how well our communications have worked and monitoring media coverage
The Ideal Candidate
Minimum Criteria
- Has a degree, preferably in marketing or a similar subject, or equivalent experience in media, marketing, or communications.
- Has the skills and experience to work in a demanding office environment.
- Has experience in media, marketing, or communications. This could include paid or voluntary work.
- Has experience of working with the public and people at different levels of an organisation.
- Has experience of supporting projects.
- Excellent communication skills across different channels, with the ability to communicate with a wide range of audiences.
- Confident using Microsoft Office and social media.
- Flexible, willing to learn, and well organised.
