Join Our Team: Communications & Campaigns Manager - 12 month temporary opportunity

Join our Customer & Place division as a Communications & Campaigns Manager covering our South region.

This is an exciting opportunity for a creative and proactive communications professional with excellent media relations, copywriting and campaign management skills. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the UK media landscape, experience developing engaging content and stories, and the ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment. Working Hours & Travel

This role follows 37 hours, 5 days a week, work pattern. This is a home-based role, with travel to our South East hub spaces.

Role Overview

The Communications & Campaigns Manager will enhance, protect and promote the Trust’s reputation, delivering impactful communications and campaigns that build brand awareness, increase engagement and support, and strengthen influence with key audiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Trust’s strategic goals (nb 75% of people aware of the Trust by 2025) by identifying, shaping and placing news stories in target media - contributing to the delivery of 220 episodes of Trust media coverage per month, of which more than 80% is positive
  • Provide a first point of contact for media enquiries, including contributing to a 24-hr, year-round out-of-hours rota
  • Provide communications support to colleagues – especially in waterway, boating and specialist teams - to help achieve the Trust’s income and profile raising objectives
  • Deliver agreed campaigns (integrating media relations, digital, and traditional marketing and fundraising) to meet the Trust’s strategic goals around influence e.g. to attract and retain 100,000 Friends by 2025
  • Protect the Trust’s reputation in response to crises and providing professional guidance for Trust spokespeople
  • Display the Trust values and behaviours at all times
  • Ensure that diversity and inclusion are integrated into all aspects of Trust life and promote inclusion by challenging behaviour, practices, actions, or decisions that are counter to the objectives of the Trust’s policies and values

About You

  • Educated to degree level, or equivalent, ideally in a relevant discipline
  • Understanding of the UK print, broadcast and social media – local, regional, national and trade – and experience working with journalists
  • Experience of contributing to the creative development of new ideas, strategies, and stories as part of the wider communications team
  • Self-motivation, ability to work independently with minimal supervision, ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure in a small team environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, including experience in copywriting and proof-reading reports
