Reporting to the Chief People Officer, you will shape and deliver an integrated communications strategy spanning external affairs, media relations, reputation management, government and stakeholder engagement, executive communications, and employee engagement. As a trusted adviser to the CEO and Executive Team, you will protect and enhance GFSL's reputation, ensuring clear, consistent, and credible messaging across all audiences. - Manage and develop the communications function, setting priorities, standards and supporting the growth of the communications team.
- Shape the external profile of the CEO and Executive Team, including speeches, presentations, thought leadership and public speaking opportunities.
- Lead stakeholder and government engagement, building strong relationships with the MoJ, HMPPS, industry partners and key external organisations.
- Support major transformation programmes and organisational change, ensuring clear communication, stakeholder alignment and effective reputation management throughout.
- Oversee GFSL's external communication channels and content, including digital platforms, executive communications, employer branding and corporate messaging.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
