About our Global Marketing team
The Global Marketing team is responsible for helping to create relationships of value with clients across all of the firm's segments and geographies. The team develops white papers, research, client notes, video and audio content for use across owned and earned channels; creates presentations and sales collateral; generates RFPs; populates digital properties; and manages marketing technology.
As a Communications Manager, you will
- Participate in pitching, drafting press releases, content and commentary and creative strategy planning for internal and external projects.
- Develop and deliver proactive media strategies across Ninety One’s investment capabilities, spanning public and private markets and a broad range of asset classes and investment themes.
- Build and enhance the external profiles of key executives and investment professionals, identifying opportunities to position them as authoritative voices on relevant market and investment themes.
- Proactively engage with institutional and wholesale media, including leading national and international business media, financial trade publications, newswires and broadcast outlets, and build strong, long-term relationships with relevant journalists.
- Generate compelling story angles and narratives that secure high-quality coverage across broadcast, print, online and digital platforms relevant to Ninety One’s institutional and wholesale audiences.
- Work closely with portfolio managers, analysts and portfolio specialists to understand their investment views, identify differentiated insights and translate complex investment thinking into clear, compelling and newsworthy narratives.
- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of Ninety One’s investment capabilities across public and private markets, alongside the broader market, economic and geopolitical environment in which our investment teams operate.
- Work cross-functionally with Investment Marketing, Digital, Product, Creative Services, Client Marketing, Business Development and local teams to ensure the creation of consistent, purpose-led narratives and initiatives that drive results and ladder up to key business goals.
- Identify opportunities arising from the latest industry trends and news topics for ongoing brand and investment storytelling across earned and owned channels.
- Monitor the daily news and investment agenda and proactively identify opportunities for Ninety One’s investment professionals to contribute differentiated perspectives to developing stories across institutional and wholesale media.
- Serve as a day-to-day media contact, managing inbound enquiries and coordinating responses across the business.
- Pitch proactively to institutional and wholesale journalists across national and international business media, financial trades, newswires and broadcast to secure high-quality interviews, commentary opportunities, features and other earned media coverage.
- Prepare portfolio managers, analysts and senior executives for media engagements, including developing briefing materials, key messages and interview preparation.
- Work closely with, manage and coordinate Ninety One’s external PR agencies across multiple markets, ensuring activity is aligned with global communications priorities while reflecting local market opportunities and media landscapes.
- Act as a central point of coordination across Ninety One’s PR agency network, sharing investment themes, content and media opportunities and helping to ensure consistent execution and messaging across markets.
- Maintain accurate and timely communications reporting, tracking media activity, coverage and outcomes across markets and providing regular reporting on the impact of communications activity.
- Have a strong awareness of social media and how it can be used to amplify earned media and investment content, including helping to develop and deliver the Communications team’s weekly LinkedIn media wrap and identifying opportunities to extend the reach of media coverage across social channels.
- Manage inbound media enquiries across corporate, sustainability and investment-related topics, coordinating responses with relevant teams across Ninety One.

You should consider applying if you have
- A minimum of seven years’ relevant communications or financial PR experience, gained within an in-house communications team, asset manager, financial institution or PR agency.
- An understanding of financial services and markets, asset management and the wholesale and institutional space, with strong investment knowledge and an understanding of public and private markets.
- An established network of relationships with journalists across key institutional and wholesale media, including leading national and international business media, financial trade publications, newswires and broadcast outlets.
- A demonstrable track record of building and maintaining strong relationships with institutional and wholesale journalists and proactively securing high-quality earned media coverage.
- The confidence and investment knowledge to work directly with portfolio managers, analysts and portfolio specialists across a broad range of investment capabilities and asset classes.
- Experience working with and coordinating external PR agencies across multiple markets and geographies.
- The creative ability to create clear and engaging written materials and translate complex investment subjects into accessible and compelling media narratives.
- Excellent judgement when it comes to understanding media risks and opportunities.
- A great communication style, with the ability to explain complex subject matter to journalists and senior stakeholders.
- Media relations skills, with experience pitching and developing strong relationships with institutional and wholesale media across traditional and digital channels; using online communications tools to enhance and amplify our core message.
- Strong news judgement, with the ability to identify what is genuinely newsworthy and connect Ninety One’s investment expertise to the external news agenda.
- Experience advising and preparing senior investment professionals and executives for media engagements.
- The ability to operate independently, manage multiple priorities and take ownership of communications activity from idea generation through to execution.
