Location: Chippenham
Hours: 37.5, Monday- Friday, 08:00- 16:30
Located and based in Wiltshire, the post holder will manage the Corporate Communications Department in MOD Lyneham. This includes delivering internal Communications and external Public Relations services in accordance with current MoD regulations and contractual requirements of the Hestia South West Contract.
Main Responsibilities
- Manage all PR and media activity, acting as the main point of contact for enquiries, media requests, press releases, official visits, and publicity opportunities.
- Deliver corporate communications, ensuring all communications, branding, and promotional materials comply with corporate communications policies and standards.
- Build strong stakeholder relationships, liaising with Defence Media, MOD press officers, regional media contacts, internal departments, and other relevant organisations.
- Support senior management and the Establishment, preparing media briefs, supporting interviews and Command meetings, coordinating communications activity, and keeping management informed of PR matters.
- Manage the team and maintain compliance, overseeing staff health, safety, and welfare while ensuring activities meet Mitie Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements.

What we are looking for
Management & Leadership
- Proven management experience with strong organisational, motivational, and decision-making skills, demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and the ability to lead change.
Media, PR & Digital Communications
- Successful experience in media relations and PR, with strong media knowledge, relationship-building skills, and effective use of online and social media.
Communication & Stakeholder Management
- Excellent written and verbal communication, influencing, and networking skills, with the ability to engage confidently at all levels and explain complex information clearly.

Organisation & Customer Focus
- Proactive, adaptable, and self-motivated, with proven customer-facing experience and the ability to manage changing priorities, short-notice requirements, and demanding deadlines calmly.
IT, Health & Safety & Qualifications
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills, management-level knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, preferably IOSH Managing Safely, and ideally NVQ Level 5 or equivalent.
Additional Information
- MOD security clearance and DBS Standard required. To meet national security vetting requirements, you will normally need to have been resident in the UK for at least 3 years to gain a Counter Terrorist Check, 5 years for Security Clearance, and 10 years for Developed Vetting prior to the date of application. All Developed Vetted posts are required to be UK Nationals. Proof of right to work in UK essential.
