About the Role

The Communications Manager is a key member of the Health Innovation Manchester (HInM) communications team, with responsibility in the PR, media, and communications function of the organisation.

You will work with HInM’s partners across the Greater Manchester system and nationally to promote the difference our health research and innovation makes to people’s lives and position Greater Manchester at the leading edge of health innovation and life sciences.

This role is for a 12-month maternity cover contract.

Working closely with the Head of Communications, you will be integral in providing expert communications advice and support, with a supportive role in developing and delivering key strategies to maximise PR and media opportunities, deliver high-profile GM-wide campaigns, drive impactful social media content, and evaluate the impact of our communications activity in achieving HInM’s vision and business objectives.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
