Communications Manager
Bristol City Robins Foundation, the charity of Bristol City Football Club, has a vacancy for a Communications Manager to oversee internal and external communication strategies to promote the Foundation and protect its reputation. This is a Foundation role line-managed by the Bristol City Communications Director.

LINE MANAGER: Bristol City Communications Director
LOCATION: Ashton Gate Stadium, with community-based working
CONTRACT: Permanent, full-time, including weekend work
Key Responsibilities
- Work with senior staff to deliver the Robins Foundation Strategy 2026-2029.
- Develop key messaging across all internal and external communications.
- Ensure senior spokespeople proactively influence the media narrative.
- Act as a ‘brand guardian’ to ensure consistency in internal and external communications.
- Identify issues that could damage the Foundation’s reputation and recommend actions to mitigate risk.
- Work with Bristol City FC Men, Women, and Academy teams to maximise the impact of player engagement.
- Work collaboratively with Robins Foundation partner charities.
- Analyse and report on the effectiveness of Robins Foundation communications.
- Promote equality and diversity by ensuring that communications are accessible and representative of the diverse range of people the Robins Foundation works with.
Website and Publications
- Lead on copy-writing and production of materials and key publications.
- Manage website and app content.
- Support content production for a case study database.
Media Exposure and Relations
- Develop relationships with target media representatives.
- Write press releases and statements to promote the Robins Foundation and its activities.
- Respond to requests from the press for comments, views and supporting information and maximise opportunities for engagement on relevant topics.
- Advise spokespeople on key messaging.
- Work with the Robins TV matchday production team to provide video content and information for the matchday show.

Internal Communications
- Keep staff up to date on Foundation activity to create a daily connection with its work.
- Highlighting success and landmark moments to staff and partners.
- Provide advice and training to staff on the creation of communications materials and the use of the Robins Foundation brand.
Line Management
- To lead and support the Content Producer.
Experience and Skills
- Experience in communications strategy with a strong understanding of written, social media and content management.
- Ability to communicate information in a lively, accurate and readable manner in a variety of formats for targeted audiences.
- A passion and interest in social change and the ability to find and communicate this change with a storytelling approach.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and balance a range of projects and a varied workload, ensuring key tasks are completed in accordance with work plans.
- A strong team player with experience in line managing others to produce results and the ability to lead a team.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Produce an annual communications strategy.
- Maintain a monthly content plan.
- Deliver content in line with communications priorities.
- Support all major Foundation campaigns and events
- Produce campaign evaluation reports.
- Build positive media coverage for the Foundation.

Recruitment Process
