Communications Manager

Type: Full-time, permanent

Location: Based in London OR Cowes, with travel as required to events in the UK and abroad

Salary: £55,000 - £70,000 per annum, depending on experience and location

Closing Date: 09:00 on 26 October 2026

Communications Manager Role at the Royal Ocean Racing Club

From the world-renowned Rolex Fastnet Race and Admiral's Cup to the RORC Caribbean 600 and our Cowes-based offshore series, our events bring together an international community of members, owners, competitors and supporters. Behind every race are remarkable stories—and we're looking for someone to help us share them.

This new role offers the opportunity to shape and lead RORC's communications, marketing and digital activity at an exciting time for the Club, with the Admiral's Cup and Rolex Fastnet Race ahead in 2027.

You'll be the guardian of the RORC brand, connecting our racing programme, membership and Club life through compelling content, effective media relations and coordinated campaigns. Working closely with colleagues, contributors and commercial partners, you'll help strengthen engagement and bring RORC's stories to a wider audience.

Qualifications

  • Strong skills in written and verbal communication, including the ability to create clear, accurate and engaging content creation for diverse audiences.
  • A relevant degree or equivalent professional experience in communications, marketing, journalism or related field is preferred.
  • Experience in digital communications and marketing, including social media management, email campaigns and website content updates.
  • Ability to plan and deliver both internal and external communication strategies around events, announcements, training and stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience working with media and press, including preparing press releases, coordinating interviews and managing responses.
  • Comfortable working on-site in either Cowes, Isle of Wight or London and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Familiarity with sailing, sports, or event management environments is beneficial but not essential.
