Communications Manager (Campaigns & Membership)

Westminster, London
Full time, permanent
Competitive salaries and excellent benefits including up to one day's paid leave each year to undertake volunteering opportunities

About Make UK

Manufacturing is at the heart of the UK economy. At Make UK, we’re here to make sure it has a strong voice.

We represent manufacturers across the country, working with our members, Government and policymakers to shape the issues that matter to the sector. From skills and employment to trade, investment and industrial strategy, our work has a real impact on businesses across the UK.

We’re now looking for a Communications Manager, Campaigns & Membership to join our team and help bring that work to life.

About the role

This is a brilliant opportunity for a communications professional who loves a good story, enjoys creating content and wants to work on issues that genuinely matter.

You’ll be right at the heart of our campaigns and member communications, helping us tell the story of what Make UK is doing, why it matters and, importantly, what difference it makes for our members.

You’ll work closely with colleagues across Communications, Policy, Membership and our regional teams, turning member insight and real-world experiences into campaigns, content and stories that cut through.

A big part of the role will be making sure our members see the impact of their involvement – from sharing how their feedback has shaped our policy positions to showcasing campaign successes, Government engagement and the outcomes we’ve achieved on their behalf.

What you'll be doing

  • Creating engaging content for newsletters, social media, websites and other channels, bringing our campaigns, policy work and public affairs activity to life.
  • Supporting our member communications and working closely with teams across Make UK to make sure we’re sharing the right stories with the right audiences.
  • Getting involved in member surveys, consultations, roundtables and engagement activity, making sure we capture the views and experiences of our members.
  • Finding great member stories, case studies and real-life examples that can bring our campaigns and policy work to life.
  • Showing members how their feedback is making a difference and influencing our policy positions and conversations with Government.
  • Sharing our policy wins, campaign progress, ministerial engagement and influencing activity with our members.
  • Helping to raise the profile of Make UK’s campaigns, reports, spokespeople and advocacy work across our channels.
  • Supporting social media activity around our biggest campaigns and the policy issues affecting manufacturers.
  • Creating content that showcases the expertise of our senior leaders, economists and policy specialists.
  • Keeping an eye on what’s working across our digital channels and using engagement data to help us improve.
  • Helping us report on member engagement, communications activity and the impact of our campaigns.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
