Job Description:

Our purpose is to bring together people, energy and markets to power and navigate a changing world. In a time of constant change and possibility we need new talent to pursue commercial opportunities, fuelled by world-class insight and expertise. We’re always striving for more innovative digital solutions, sustainable outcomes and closer collaboration across our company and beyond, and you could be part of that too. At bp, we're transforming how we serve customers and communities across our UK retail network. With around 330 stores, including bp branded sites, Wild Bean Café and M&S Simply Food, our supply chain plays a critical role in delivering safe, reliable and efficient operations every day.

About the Role:

As communications partner to the EVP Legal and their leadership team, this role is responsible for leading communications and employee engagement for bp’s legal function, including ethics and compliance. As part of the finance and legal communications team, the role also contributes to essential communications and engagement priorities across finance.

Please note that roles based out of SJS or Sunbury will move to Timber Square, Southwark, from Q4 2027.

In this role, you will be responsible for leading communications for bp’s legal function, including ethics and compliance (E&C). You'll be the communications partner to the EVP Legal (General Counsel) and their leadership team, advising on communications and engagement strategy. As part of this remit, you'll work closely with the E&C leadership to communicate priorities, drive awareness of key programmes and strengthen understanding of bp's code of conduct.

While your focus will be on the legal function, you'll also contribute to strategic communications and engagement priorities across finance - developing and delivering communications to support projects – including transformation initiatives, advising finance senior leaders, and developing content for finance business as usual channels.

This role sits within the internal and functions communications team, and reports to the head of communications, finance and legal.

Specifically:

  • Executive Communications You’ll be the primary communications partner to the General Counsel - shaping how they communicate and engage with employees, advising them on executive positioning (including LinkedIn and external speaking events), and drafting their notes, talking points, communications briefs, etc.

  • Senior Leadership Advisory You’ll advise senior legal and finance leaders. You’ll create materials that help leaders engage with their teams – including talking points, FAQs and slides. You’ll coach leaders to communicate with confidence, manage reputational risk, and effectively engage with employees.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
