Communications Manager £30,588 - £39,327 FTE (depending on experience)

About the Job

We’re looking for a confident and hands-on Communications Manager to lead and manage communications across the organisation. You will act as the central point of contact for internal teams, providing practical communications support to our programmes, campaigns, and organisational initiatives.

Experience supporting organisational projects, campaigns, and senior stakeholders is essential. This is a varied role combining strategic planning with day-to-day delivery, helping to ensure our communications support Earthwatch’s organisational priorities.

About Earthwatch

Earthwatch is an environmental charity with science at its heart. Our mission is to live within our means and in balance with nature. We do this by connecting people with the natural world, monitoring the health of our natural resources, and informing the actions that will have the greatest positive impact. We are driven by people. We are powered by science. We connect with nature. We fight for our planet.

Role Purpose

To lead and manage communications across the organisation, acting as the central point of contact for internal teams while delivering much of the communications work directly. The role will improve planning and coordination across the organisation, ensuring communications activity supports organisational priorities, while creating high-quality content and providing practical communications support to programmes, campaigns, and organisational initiatives.

This role is suited to a confident, hands-on communications professional who can operate independently as a sole communications specialist, balancing strategic planning with day-to-day delivery.

Key Deliverables

Communications Planning and Coordination:

  • Develop and maintain organisation-wide communications plans and calendars.
  • Improve forward planning and coordination of communications activity across teams.
  • Ensure communications activity supports organisational priorities and strategic objectives.
  • Build proactive relationships across the organisation to identify stories, opportunities, and communications risks.
  • Support senior leaders in embedding effective communications planning across the organisation.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
