Communications Officer

We’re looking for a talented communications officer to join the Trust for London team, at a time when communications has never been more important to our work.

Key Details

  • Salary: £45,346
  • Contract: Permanent
  • Hours: Full-time (35 hours per week)
  • Location: London (hybrid working – minimum two days per week in our central London office)
  • Reporting to: Head of communications
  • Closing date: 7 September 2026
  • Interviews: Second half of September

Poverty and inequality impact the lives of millions of Londoners in unacceptable ways, and helping people understand what's happening, and what can be done about it, is a vital part of long-term change.

Our role isn't just to promote what Trust for London does. As a communications team, we help bring evidence and the voices of our funded partners into public conversations. We aim for communications that inform, challenge and inspire action.

One of the things that makes this role particularly exciting is the opportunity to work on London's Poverty Profile. The profile is home to London’s most comprehensive data on poverty and inequality. You'll help turn that evidence into stories that reach policymakers, journalists, campaigners and communities across London.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

We're a small team, which means you'll quickly become involved in a wide variety of work. From social media and newsletters to digital campaigns, analytics and creative content, you'll have the chance to develop a broad set of skills and make a real contribution from day one.

We're looking for someone who's curious, creative and collaborative. Someone who enjoys asking questions, finding stories in data, experimenting with new ideas and thinking about how communications can make complex issues accessible and engaging.

You’ll be joining a genuinely supportive team that works collaboratively. If that sounds like the kind of environment where you'd thrive, we'd love to hear from you.

The role

You will work with the head of communications to support delivery of our communications strategy. This includes:

About you

We're looking for someone who is curious as much as creative, with an excellent eye for detail. You’ll enjoy digging beneath the headline, asking why something matters and finding the story that helps other people care.

You're just as comfortable thinking about what the data tells us as you are turning that insight into an engaging social media post or newsletter feature.

You don't need experience in every part of the role. We know great candidates don't always meet every requirement, and we'd encourage you to apply if you're excited about the opportunity and think you could thrive here.

Most importantly, you'll care about creating a fairer London and want your work to have a positive social impact.
