DESCRIPTION & REQUIREMENTS

On behalf of the CPS, we are looking for x5 Communications Officer's (Inside IR35) for a hybrid contract to run up until 26/2/27.

These are the locations that are available:

  • x1 Midlands (nominally based from one of these offices: Leicester, Nottingham or Birmingham)
  • x1 London (102 Petty France, Westminster)
  • x1 North-West and Mersey-Cheshire (Carlisle, Preston, Manchester or Liverpool)
  • x1 North-East and Yorkshire Humberside (Newcastle, Leeds, Sheffield or Hull)
  • x1 CPS Direct (virtual Area, can be based from anywhere)

The successful candidates will have an expectation subject to business needs for 2 days in the office and the remainder working from home.

The CPS prosecutes criminal cases that have been investigated by the police and other investigative organisations in England and Wales. The CPS is independent, and they make their decisions independently of the police and government.

Their duty is to make sure that the right person is prosecuted for the right offence, and to bring offenders to justice wherever possible.

As a Communications Officer, your main responsibilities will be:

  • Deliver internal and external communications.
  • Manage media enquiries and press activity.
  • Build relationships with local media.
  • Draft news stories, blogs and press releases.
  • Create engaging social media content.
  • Update website and intranet content.
  • Support communication campaigns and projects.
  • Advise stakeholders on communications issues.
  • Assist with media management at court hearings.
  • Produce digital and video content.
  • Monitor communications performance.
  • Ensure brand and accessibility compliance.
  • Use Adobe tools to edit and adapt content.
  • Support senior leaders with key messaging.

  • SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance.

Desirable:

  • CIPR qualified
