About The Role
Are you passionate about connecting people with nature?
Do you have the skills and creativity to help us promote WWT’s ten incredible wetland centres and build our brand profile with new and diverse audiences?
Our ten wetland centres are the windows into our wetlands world. They offer engaging wetland nature experiences, build people's understanding of wetlands and their incredible superpowers, and promise up-close wetland wildlife encounters. And we’re looking for an experienced Communications Officer to deliver creative multi-channel communications that promote our wetland centres and encourage more people to come and experience them for themselves.
Working closely with our Visitor Marketing team, this role will work across communications disciplines, flexing to support our marketing priorities through media relations and PR, social media, events management, and internal communications. This is a really exciting opportunity to make a real difference for nature, to speak up for wetlands and wildlife, and to inspire new and existing audiences to visit and act for these amazing habitats.
We’re an organisation of action, running multiple conservation projects and networks in the UK and around the world, as well as our own ten wetland visitor sites in the UK. This hands-on role demands flexibility, imagination, and a willingness to lead on delivering impactful and dynamic communications. You’ll help us bring wetlands and WWT to more people, through engaging storytelling and creative content, inspire our staff and volunteers, and build our profile across on and offline channels.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
