Are you a creative and organised marketing and communications professional looking to make a meaningful impact? Fostering South West is seeking a Communications Officer to help raise awareness of fostering, strengthen our regional brand, and support the recruitment of more foster carers across 15 local authorities in the South West.
Fostering South West is a Department for Education-funded regional partnership that supports fostering recruitment and retention across 15 local authorities in the South West. Through targeted marketing, early support for prospective foster carers, and a shared regional approach, the Hub works to increase the number, quality and diversity of fostering placements, helping to ensure more children can grow up in safe, stable and loving homes.
Working closely with the Communications Lead and partner council communications teams, you will help deliver engaging marketing and recruitment campaigns across a wide range of channels, including social media, digital content, email, advertising, events and print. You will create compelling content, maintain websites and social media platforms, support media enquiries, coordinate external suppliers, and ensure all communications are accessible, on-brand and tailored to the needs of different audiences. You will also monitor campaign performance, analyse data and audience insights, and help shape future activity through evidence-based recommendations.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
