Salary: £35,000 – 37,000 annually pro rata, dependent on experience

Job Summary

The Communications & Social Media Coordinator is responsible for supporting the delivery of communication and digital campaigns that enhance membership engagement, promote the event programme and reinforce Scotland Food & Drink’s industry leadership role. The aim of this role is to help secure, sustain and grow Scotland’s food and drink sector.

The postholder will work closely with the Brand & Communications team as well as with external creative and PR agencies to support the planning, creation and delivery of engaging content and assets. They will utilise all available digital marketing channels, PR and broader communications tools to achieve both campaign and business objectives.

They must be able to work independently and collaboratively within the Brand & Communications team, contributing to a variety of short- and long-term campaigns that raise the profile of Scotland Food & Drink and promote the sector as a whole.

Key Duties And Responsibilities

Your day-to-day responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

Content Creation & Social Media Management

  • Assist in the planning and management of campaigns, coordinating with Scotland Food & Drink teams and external creative agencies.
  • Manage content schedules and monitoring for social media platforms, ensuring activity captures all Scotland Food & Drink initiatives and latest industry news.
  • Draft engaging organic social media copy and create strong visual assets aligned with Scotland Food & Drink’s brand and tone of voice.
  • Monitor social media trends and propose new content ideas to drive engagement and audience growth.
  • Familiar with creating print-ready marketing collateral.

Website & Digital Communications

  • Support the day-to-day updating of the Scotland Food & Drink website including homepage and events pages, ensuring information is current and engaging.
  • Draft email marketing campaigns that complement social media activity, including newsletters focused on event promotion, membership acquisition and member engagement.
  • Support internal and external communications.

Collaboration & Project Support

  • Work closely with the Brand and Communications team to ensure consistent messaging and brand alignment across all communications channels.
  • Coordinate with creative and PR agencies to produce high-quality content and support campaigns.
  • Take initiative to support multiple communications projects and campaigns simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met.

Skills we are looking for:

  • Content Creation & Copywriting: Able to draft engaging long- and short-form content for social media, websites, email campaigns and press communications.
  • Digital Management: Experience with social media platforms, website editing and content management systems with an understanding of SEO best practice.
  • Data Control & Reporting: Works under guidance to analyse campaign performance, audience engagement, and digital metrics to guide improvements.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite and other content creation tools, such as Canva.
  • Planning & Organising: Able to manage multiple projects and campaigns, plan content schedules and meet deadlines efficiently.
  • Collaboration: Works effectively as part of a team and coordinates with external agencies and internal stakeholders.
  • Attention to Detail: Ensures accuracy in all communications, content and campaign outputs, with excellent proofing skills.
  • A degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Media, Journalism, or a related field is essential.
