The Engineering Excellence (EE) department within the Chief Technology Office
The Engineering Excellence (EE) department within the Chief Technology Office aims to support the firm’s goal of thriving as one team on a common mission through attracting, retaining, and driving the growth of top technology talent within a culture where innovation and excellence are not just encouraged, but expected.
The scope of Engineering Excellence is vast, with programs and products at various stages of maturity. Efforts are concentrated in three key areas - empowering engineers to advance a technical career, boosting engineer productivity and fostering strategic collaboration.
Our initiatives are used by over 50,000 engineers; we are passionate about engineers fulfilling their technical career aspirations here at Citi and providing them with the tools and metrics that enable them to learn as well as demonstrate their expertise and support their continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Communications Planning: Develop and manage a detailed editorial calendar and communications work plan for the Engineering Excellence department, including project estimates, resource plans, and content schedules.
- Content Creation & Management: Serve as a primary technical writer, creating engaging content for the developer community. This includes managing the EE Newsletter, promoting internal and vendor products with use cases, and showcasing the value of strategic events and collaborations.
- Content Repository Management: Manage and maintain all internal SharePoint sites and content repositories, ensuring information is organized, up-to-date, and easily accessible.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Interface with senior project staff and client (internal developer community) senior management to provide status reports on communication initiatives, ensuring alignment with departmental and business-wide objectives.
- Process Improvement: Proactively recommend and oversee improvements to communication processes, channels, and strategies, using engagement metrics and feedback to enhance effectiveness.
- Business Impact: Drive significant business impact by translating complex technical processes, systems, and industry standards into clear, digestible, and engaging content that boosts engineer productivity and tool adoption.
- Strategic Influence: Provide in-depth analysis and interpretive thinking to define communication challenges and develop innovative solutions. Influence strategic functional decisions through expert advice and counsel on communication and engagement strategies.
- Cross-Functional Integration: Maintain a comprehensive understanding of how Engineering Excellence and other technology areas (e.g., architecture, infrastructure) integrate to achieve business objectives, ensuring all communications are contextually relevant.
- Risk Management: Appropriately assess risk in all communication-related decisions, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation. Ensure compliance with all applicable policies, laws, and regulations, applying sound ethical judgment and escalating issues with transparency.

Required Skills and Qualifications
- Communications background, developer experience, or technical ability to bring energy and enthusiasm to the developer community in a digestible format.
- Proven ability to engage readers and equip them with the knowledge they need.
- Excellent communication and diplomacy skills, with the ability to persuade and influence a technical audience and senior stakeholders.
Required Experience
- Proven experience in change management and a strong communications background.
- Experience managing global communications and complex stakeholder relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to drive change and navigate complex organization dynamics.
- Demonstrated passion for supporting the technical career development of others.
- Good knowledge of the software development lifecycle and process.
- Technical exposure to developer products is highly desirable.

- Significant experience in a related technology or communications role, with subject matter expertise in the overall field.
Education
- Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience; a Master’s degree is a plus.
