Job Description:

Community Café Assistant

Crystal Palace Community Trust (CPCT) is looking for a friendly and committed Community Café Assistant to help run our new community café at 123 Anerley, serving Anerley Town Hall, our business centre and the local community. This is an opportunity to play a key role in helping establish a welcoming café at the heart of our community facilities and to contribute to CPCT's work bringing people and the community together.

About the role

You will help run the day-to-day café service, welcoming customers, preparing and serving drinks and food, keeping the café clean and organised, and helping create a friendly environment for everyone who uses our facilities.

The role includes:

  • Welcoming customers and providing friendly, helpful service
  • Preparing and serving coffee, tea and other drinks
  • Preparing and serving simple food and snacks
  • Operating the café and keeping the service area clean and organised
  • Cleaning equipment, surfaces and customer areas as required
  • Restocking café supplies
  • Handling payments and cash accurately
  • Following appropriate food hygiene, health and safety procedures
  • Helping the café provide a welcoming service to Town Hall users, business centre customers and the wider local community

Experience and training

Previous café, hospitality or customer service experience is welcome, but training can be provided. We are looking for someone who is:

  • Friendly, approachable and committed
  • Reliable and organised
  • Comfortable working with members of the public
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Interested in contributing to a community-focused environment

Hours and pay

9.30 am to 2.30 pm (25 hours per week) for 42 weeks
£325 per week, plus a 50% retainer of £162.50 per week for 10 non-working weeks during school holidays.
