Community Care Worker – Competitive Salary - Derby and Derbyshire
Are you someone who naturally puts people at ease and treats every person with dignity? Do you have the patience, awareness and practical care skills needed to support people with a wide range of needs?
The role
Staff and Walton Out Care Services is looking for kind, reliable Community Care Workers to support people in the comfort of their own homes.
Reporting to the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager, you will provide practical and personal support that helps service users feel safe, respected and as independent as possible.
No two visits will be exactly the same. You may be helping someone prepare for the day, supporting them with a meal or simply offering reassurance and companionship.
Key Responsibilities
Your role may include:
- Supporting service users with washing, dressing and personal care
- Helping people get up, go to bed and move safely around their home
- Providing continence and bowel care
- Preparing meals and assisting with eating and drinking
- Completing agreed household tasks, including laundry, shopping and light housework
- Supporting medication, including prescribed insulin where trained and authorised
- Monitoring skin condition, pressure areas and general wellbeing
- Recognising and reporting changes in physical, mental or emotional health
- Following care plans, risk assessments and professional guidance
- Supporting service users with feeding tubes, mobility equipment or non-invasive ventilation where appropriately trained
- Providing support to people with cognitive impairments or behaviours that challenge
- Working alongside GPs, nurses and specialist teams when providing end-of-life care

The person
We are looking for someone who is calm, dependable and able to respond sensitively to changing situations.
You will need:
- A valid DBS certificate
- Two references, including one professional reference
- Good communication and observation skills
- The ability to follow care plans and instructions
- A respectful and responsible approach
- A willingness to complete mandatory testing where required
