Join us as a Community Champion at Thirteen Group!

Role Overview

Thirteen Group is on the lookout for a Community Champion to join our Housing and Communities team, working across our neighbourhoods. You’ll be a welcoming, visible presence, building trusted relationships with customers, listening to local feedback and connecting people with the right information and services.

This is a roaming role involving regular work in communities and attendance at local events. You’ll need to be flexible to work afternoons, evenings and weekends as required, helping us strengthen trust, safety, inclusion and connection across our neighbourhoods.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be a trusted, approachable presence in our communities, building positive relationships with customers.
  • Engage with residents through conversations, local activities and events, promoting equality and inclusion.
  • Identify and report concerns, including antisocial behaviour, environmental issues and building safety matters, escalating them accurately and promptly.
  • Work closely with the Community Champion Lead, colleagues and the Building Control Room to plan activity, check in safely and share clear handovers.
  • Help customers access relevant information and services, while gathering feedback and insight to support service improvements.
  • Build relationships with community partners, local services and residents’ groups to support joined-up responses to neighbourhood priorities.

About You

  • You have experience of working with customers or communities in a public-facing housing, neighbourhood or similar role.
  • You’re confident engaging respectfully with a wide range of people and can build trust while remaining professional and authoritative.
  • You can recognise issues, risks and opportunities, then record and report them clearly and accurately.
  • You’re dependable, self-motivated and comfortable working flexibly, including afternoons, evenings and weekends.
  • You work well as part of a small, visible team and share our commitment to inclusive, connected communities.
  • Experience of community safety, neighbourhood operations, partnership working or social media engagement would be helpful, but is not essential.
