About the Opportunity

The Role:

The Community Coordinator (CC) serves as a community developer and student experience owner for residential students at Northeastern University London. This role requires a proactive professional who takes initiative in building vibrant residential communities, addressing student needs holistically, and collaborating across student-facing functions to create integrated support systems.

CCs are responsible for fostering strong residential communities of approximately 45-50 students through intentional relationship-building, strategic programming aligned with a co-curricular framework, and responsive problem-solving. This position requires significant evening and weekend presence in the residence halls to create both formal and informal touchpoints with students, ensuring residential spaces act as true centers for student life and belonging. CCs are expected to navigate ambiguity, make sound judgments, and proactively address issues before they escalate.

All Community Coordinators are expected to participate in an on-call duty rotation which requires the individual to work untraditional hours, including evening, overnight, weekends, bank holidays, and break periods, etc. To support co-curricular programming and manage escalated student emergencies.

Due to the live-in requirements of the Community Coordinator role, it is required that the on-campus accommodation provided must be the individual's primary residence and that the person must maintain a high visibility within their residential areas of responsibility.

While accommodation is provided, it is not fixed, and there is a possibility of room type, or allocation changing to meet institutional and business needs.

This role operates across a range of shift patterns to fulfill on-call and community presence responsibilities. The CC work pattern includes a mix of on-call coverage (weekdays, 5pm-9am; weekends 9am-9pm or 9pm-9am), daytime presence (9am-5pm), and evening presence (1pm-9pm). Staff schedules are coordinated as a team to ensure maximum visibility and student engagement within the residence halls. Candidates should be prepared to work flexibly across these patterns as part of their regular duties.

Duties and Responsibilities

Community Engagement

  • Build and maintain vibrant residential communities within the halls through intentional relationship-building, inclusive programming, and proactive outreach.
  • Develop and implement independent educational engagements (events) that address students’ personal and intellectual growth. Working with peers to implement wider or large-scale community initiatives.
  • Maintain consistent and visible presence in the residence halls through 1-2 scheduled evening shifts per week and approximately 1 weekend shift per month (on call), with increased outreach during critical times of the academic year.
  • Facilitate monthly community meetings to deliver essential updates and strengthen peer connections within assigned student groups.
  • Actively collaborate with colleagues across the university to provide a seamless support network for students. Promoting and facilitating student participation in existing campus events and external London-based opportunities.

Student Development

  • Conduct monthly one-on-one conversations with all assigned students.
  • Holistically support NU London students’ experiences within the residence halls, and across their academic and experiential opportunities. Taking independent initiatives in identifying and addressing issues affecting students’ wellbeing and experience.
  • Cultivate student leadership skills and provide differentiated support by identifying residents interested in community development, providing structured mentorship and feedback, and collaborating with them in planning and executing community events.
  • Design and implement outcome-driven programming (events) aligned with the residential curriculum that fosters community and student learning.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
