The Community Engagement Manager

The Community Engagement Manager is responsible for shaping the Abcam brand voice across digital platforms, driving engagement, and fostering meaningful connections with target audiences. This role ensures social media initiatives align with overall marketing and business objectives to maximize impact.

This position reports to the Director of Global Events and is part of the Global Marketing team. This role will be an on-site role based in Cambridge, UK.

In This Role, You Will Have The Opportunity To

  • Develop and implement integrated social media strategies that grow brand presence, increase engagement, build brand affinity, and support the business and marketing objectives across organic and paid channels.
  • Create and manage compelling, high-quality content that strengthens brand identity, amplifies thought leadership, and tells authentic stories that resonate with customers, industry audiences, and key stakeholders.
  • Partner with internal subject matter experts, industry thought leaders, and scientific influencers to develop credible, engaging content that expands audience reach, builds trust, and elevates the organization's voice within the scientific community.
  • Analyze social media performance and paid campaign data to optimize content, audience targeting, and channel strategies, improving reach, engagement, conversion, and overall ROI.
  • Lead community engagement and social listening efforts to foster meaningful audience relationships, strengthen customer experience, enhance brand sentiment, and protect brand reputation.
  • Collaborate closely with cross functional teams to align social media programs with strategic initiatives, amplify campaign impact, and contribute to demand generation and revenue growth.

The Essential Requirements Of The Job Include

  • Proven track record managing social media platforms for a brand or agency, including strategy execution and campaign management.
  • Deep knowledge of social media algorithms, trends, and best practices to drive engagement and growth.
  • Hands-on experience creating and optimizing content (copy, graphics, video) tailored for different platforms.
  • Proficiency in analytics and reporting tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite, platform insights) to measure and improve performance.
  • Experience managing paid social campaigns and budgets to deliver ROI and achieve business objectives.

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements

  • Some travel may be required both nationally and internationally from time to time.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Experience managing social media for a life sciences organization, with proven success in engaging scientific or technical audiences.
  • Background in B2B or regulated industries where compliance and accuracy in content are critical.
  • Track record of developing campaigns that translate complex scientific concepts into accessible, engaging content for diverse audiences
