Community Engagement Manager (Health & Wellbeing)
Location: Ipswich
Contract: Full-time (37.5 hours)
Reports to: Head of Community Engagement
Works closely with: Community Engagement team and all departments within the organisation.
Role Overview
Ipswich Town Foundation is seeking to recruit a Community Engagement Manager, to lead our health and wellbeing portfolio, managing a range of programmes that support participants to improve their physical and mental wellbeing.
The postholder will be a member of the Management Group at the Foundation and will manage a multi-disciplinary team focusing on delivering impactful community programmes and initiatives to improve health outcomes for groups and individuals in Suffolk through the power of Ipswich Town Football Club.
The successful candidate will be passionate about improving lives and champion innovation and best practice to ensure the Foundation is a leading force for social change in the health space.

Ipswich Town Foundation is the official charity of Ipswich Town Football Club. We care deeply about the people in our community and believe in their potential. Each week, we engage with almost 9,000 young people and vulnerable adults on a weekly basis through our diverse range of programmes across health and wellbeing, social inclusion, youth engagement, football development, and education and employability. Key Responsibilities
Programme Leadership & Delivery
- Lead the planning, delivery and development of the Foundation’s health and wellbeing programmes.
- Manage projects focused on mental health, physical activity and wider health and wellbeing outcomes.
- Manage programme budgets and adhere to funders’ requirements.
- Monitor programme performance against agreed targets, KPIs and outcomes.
- Identify funding opportunities and contribute towards the writing of funding bids and applications.
- Identify barriers to engagement and develop inclusive approaches to underrepresented demographics.
- Actively contribute to Management Group meetings.
- Line manage Health & Wellbeing Coach and Oral Health Project Officer, along with programme staff.

Mental Health & Wellbeing
- Provide leadership and expertise in the development of mental health programmes across the Foundation.
- Ensure staff and delivery teams are equipped to support participants appropriately and safely.
- Maintain knowledge of current best practice, policy developments and research relating to mental health and wellbeing.
- Champion positive mental health across the organisation and wider community.
Stakeholder Management
- Build, maintain and develop strong relationships with key stakeholders such as Premier League Foundation, Suffolk & Norfolk Integrated Care Board, social prescribing teams, mental health services and local authorities.
- Represent the Foundation at partnership meetings, forums and networking events.
- Identify opportunities for collaborative working to maximise impact and sustainability.
Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting
- Working closely with the Head of Insight, Impact & Development to ensure robust data collection, impact measurement and reporting processes are in place.
- Produce reports for funders, partners and Senior Leadership.
- Use participant feedback and evaluation findings to continuously improve programmes.
Funding & Sustainability
- Support funding applications for programmes.
- Contribute to the development of new projects and other income generation opportunities.
- Ensure contractual obligations and funder requirements are met.
Safeguarding & Compliance
- Maintain the highest standards of safeguarding, health and safety, equality, diversity and inclusion.
- Ensure full compliance with Ipswich Town Foundation safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate safeguarding records and report concerns in line with policy.
- Undertake relevant safeguarding and CPD training as required.
Person Specification
Essential Experience
- Significant experience in managing community-based programmes, particularly multi-disciplinary programmes.
- Demonstratable experience working in mental health settings.
- Experience developing partnerships and working collaboratively with health, education, local authorities and other key stakeholders.
- Experience monitoring programme outcomes and contributing towards impact reports.
- Experience engaging with diverse communities and addressing local needs.
- Experience of leading and managing staff/volunteers.

Desirable Experience
- Experience of working on suicide prevention initiatives.
- Experience of writing successful funding applications.
- Experience of working for a football club charity or similar organisation.
- Experience of managing budgets.

- Strong understanding of mental health challenges and effective community-based interventions.
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and risk management.
- Excellent communication and relationship building skills.

Desirable Skills & Knowledge
- Degree-level qualification or equivalent experience in mental health.
- Understanding the power of football to positively impact communities.
- Understanding of social prescribing and NHS health pathways.

- Willingness to work weekends and unsocial hours.
- Full clean UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
- Enhanced DBS check
