Job Title: Community & Events Assistant
Reports to: Head of Community Engagement & Participation (CE&P)
Working Hours: 30 hours per week over four days. The ability to work in the evening and at weekends will be required.
Period of Appointment: Permanent with 3 months’ probation period
Salary: £26,850.72 FTE pro rata, 30 hours
Purpose of the Role
As Community & Events Assistant you will support the delivery of the Tyne Theatre & Opera House Preservation Trust’s community engagement work, helping run a busy programme of work both in and out of the theatre. This is primarily an administration role although the postholder will also assist the management team to ensure operational efficiency of shows and events.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the administration and delivery of the in-house companies, Tyne Theatre Productions, Tyne Youth Company, Tyne Theatre Voices and Tyne Theatre Show Band, including managing membership requests, payments and member queries, booking rehearsal spaces, liaising with freelancers and updating website and social media pages.
- Assist with the administration and delivery of the Theatre’s community engagement and participation programme, including creative workshops, talks, volunteer sessions, heritage projects and collaborations with other arts organisations.
- Prepare contracts, minutes, invoices and other formal documentation.
- Write marketing copy and source images to support the CE&P programme when required.
- Issue detailed and comprehensive event information to all departments.
- Positively assist in the set-up, coordination and smooth running of both public-facing and community events across the organisation, working collaboratively with all departments.
- Support ticketing and audience liaison when required, responding to enquiries in person, by phone and via email.
- Act as key holder with supervisory capacity.
- Adhere to Trust policies including safeguarding, health & safety, and equality of opportunity.

Person Specification
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- High attention to detail.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to multi-task and forward plan.
- A self-starter with initiative and a proactive approach.
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Good IT skills, including MS Office.
- An active interest in the arts, heritage and entertainment sectors.
