Community Football & Schools Coach

Pay: £12.71–£25.00 per hour
Part-time | In person | South East London

Blackheath Rhinos / Rhinos Sporting Projects are looking for a reliable, enthusiastic, and confident Community Football & Schools Coach to join our growing coaching team across South East London.

The role is varied and will include delivering sessions within local primary schools, coaching our younger Foundations players, and supporting football sessions across Blackheath Rhinos.

You will work with children of different ages and abilities, so we are looking for someone who can deliver sessions that are fun, organized, engaging, and appropriate for the group.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver football, PE, and multi-sport sessions in local primary schools
  • Run lunchtime and after-school clubs
  • Deliver Foundations sessions for younger players
  • Coach Blackheath Rhinos training sessions
  • Support holiday camps during school holidays
  • Assist with matchday coaching where required
  • Plan and deliver structured, age-appropriate sessions
  • Set up and pack away equipment
  • Maintain excellent safeguarding and behavior standards
  • Build positive relationships with children, parents, schools, and fellow coaches
  • Represent Blackheath Rhinos and Rhinos Sporting Projects professionally at all times

What We Are Looking For

  • Confident and comfortable working with children
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Energetic, enthusiastic, and approachable
  • Able to lead groups independently
  • Organized and professional
  • Comfortable coaching a range of ages and abilities
  • Able to communicate well with children, parents, and school staff
  • Willing to learn and develop as a coach
  • Available for a mixture of daytime, after-school, and evening work

Previous football or school coaching experience is preferred. At least one year of experience working with children in a school is required.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Enhanced DBS for working with children — required
  • Authorization to work in the United Kingdom — required
  • FA Introduction to Coaching Football or higher — ideally held, or willingness to obtain
  • Safeguarding Children qualification — ideally held, or willingness to obtain
  • First Aid in Football qualification — ideally held, or willingness to obtain

Support may be available for the right candidate to complete outstanding coaching, safeguarding, or first aid qualifications.

There is scope for regular weekly hours and increased responsibility for the right coach.

Locations

Sessions take place across Blackheath and surrounding areas of South East London, including Blackheath, Charlton, Deptford, Woolwich, and Welling. You must be able to reliably travel between these locations.

Blackheath Rhinos is a growing grassroots football club providing coaching and competitive football opportunities for children across a wide range of ages and abilities.

Rhinos Sporting Projects also delivers sports coaching, school programs, after-school clubs, holiday camps, and community football sessions across South East London.

We are looking for someone who wants to become a regular and trusted member of our coaching team, with opportunities to develop as the organization continues to grow.
