EMMS International is Scotland’s longest-serving international healthcare charity. Since 1841, EMMS has worked to improve health and healthcare for some of the world’s poorest and hardest-to-reach communities. Today, the charity works with partners across India, Malawi, Nepal, Rwanda, Scotland and Zambia.
Whether it is a young woman graduating from her nursing course in India or a person receiving palliative care in Nepal experiencing a renewed quality of life, the impact of better healthcare reaches far beyond numbers.
Last year alone, EMMS supported 1,764 people through training and benefited more than 104,000 patients, family members and community members. Our work is focused around four strategic priorities:

EMMS has recently completed a full organisational review and restructure, including strengthening its fundraising leadership team. With a strong track record in institutional funding, healthy reserves and approximately £400,000 currently generated each year through grants, individual giving, campaigns and appeals, the organisation has significant ambition and opportunity for further income growth. We are now looking for an experienced Fundraising Manager to help deliver that next phase.

The role
Working closely with the Director of Fundraising and Head of Partnerships and Philanthropy, the Fundraising Manager will play a key role in growing EMMS International’s voluntary income. Individual Giving will be the primary focus of the role, accounting for approximately 70% of the post. You will take responsibility for developing and delivering individual giving activity, including appeals, campaigns, supporter communications and stewardship, with a particular focus on strengthening supporter journeys, improving retention and increasing long-term supporter value. The remaining part of the role will support selected community fundraising and events activity, including developing relationships with supporters, groups and individuals who want to fundraise for EMMS. This is an opportunity for someone who understands that successful individual giving is built through strong communication, careful stewardship, good data and a genuine understanding of what motivates people to support a cause over time.

Location and travel
The successful candidate must live in Scotland. The role requires a minimum of one day per week at EMMS International’s Norton Park office in Edinburgh, alongside regular face-to-face team meetings. There will also be occasional travel to fundraising and awareness-raising events elsewhere in the UK and occasional evening or weekend working. International travel may occasionally be required.
