Band 2 - 37.5 hours - Permanent

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our Community Gateway Service. The Community Gateway Service are the first point of contact for members of the public and agencies making initial contact with the District Nursing Service.

What is a Community Gateway Clerical Officer?

They are the first point of contact for members of the public and agencies with District Nursing health queries. They facilitate a contact assessment service for this first point of contact, in an approachable and responsive manner. They provide simple information and advice to members of the public and other agencies at point of contact to help resolve queries. They receive queries over the telephone, referral system or email and ensure that any necessary information is completed on EMIS in a timely manner to allow a referral to be made.

This post will be based at Crickets Lane Clinic, Crickets Lane Ashton u Lyne.

The contracted hours for this post are 37.5 hours Monday to Friday between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00. Cover is also required one Saturday in six between the hours of 09:00 and 17:00.

Main duties of the job

  • To deal directly with routine queries as a “first point of contact” for members of the public and agencies with District Nursing health queries.
  • Using agreed algorithms, re-direct members of the public and agencies to the appropriate team or department.
  • To provide simple information and advice to members of the public and other agencies to help resolve their queries.
  • To receive queries through email, referral systems and by phone.
  • To be able to judge where a situation may need emergency or urgent intervention, and to refer this on to the Senior Supervisor/relevant team as appropriate.
  • To complete any necessary information or documentation on EMIS to allow for referrals to be made.
  • To work as part of a high functioning team.
