Creator Outreach Intern (Work Experience + Equity)

Anime, Gaming & Fandom Communities

Remote · Internship · Flexible hours
Unpaid work experience with performance-based equity options

ABOUT WHAT IF

What If is an accelerator-backed startup building an interactive storytelling platform. Users drop their own characters into any scenario — anime, gaming, mythology, history, sport — and instantly generate stories, comics, audio or video.

We're backed by the Loughborough University Startup Fund, won the Base44 x Collabor8 Hackathon, and our beta is live at whatifbeta.com with a growing community of users and a waitlist for full launch.

We're two founders moving fast and building a small team around us. This is early — you'd be shaping how things work, not inheriting someone else's process.

THE ROLE

You'd own our creator partnerships pipeline: finding micro-creators in anime, gaming and fandom spaces, pitching them, and managing those relationships once they're on board.

Day to day that looks like:

  • Researching and identifying micro-creators (under 50K followers) across TikTok, YouTube, Reddit and Discord who already make matchup, lore, OC or fandom content
  • Reaching out and pitching What If — testing different approaches to see what actually gets replies
  • Managing partnered creators: onboarding them, making sure they understand their responsibilities and KPIs, keeping relationships warm
  • Tracking everything — who you contacted, what worked, what didn't — so we can double down on what converts
  • Feeding insight back to us on what creators actually want

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

WHAT YOU GET

  • Real work experience at a fast-paced, accelerator-backed AI startup — genuine ownership, not admin
  • Performance-based equity options tied to the results you drive. Hit your milestones and we'll discuss shares directly. Earned, not guaranteed.
  • A certificate of completion for your LinkedIn
  • Direct access to the founding team — you'll work with us, not three layers below us
  • A portfolio case study in creator partnerships and community growth you can take anywhere
  • Complete flexibility — no set hours, no rigid schedule. Fit it around uni, work or whatever else you've got on.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Genuine interest in anime, gaming, manga or wider fandom culture — this matters more than anything on your CV
  • Comfortable sending cold DMs and emails, and not discouraged when people don't reply
  • Self-driven — we're not going to micromanage you. You'll get the mission and the tools, and we'll trust you to find the angle.
  • Clear written communication
  • Organised enough to keep a pipeline tracked properly

Nice to have, not required:

  • Existing relationships with creators or communities
  • Experience in outreach, sales, partnerships or social media
  • A specific niche you know inside out (One Piece, SCP, D&D, VTubers, powerscaling, etc.)

No degree requirements. We care about what you can do, not what you've studied.

HOW IT WORKS

This is unpaid work experience, and we're upfront about that. What we offer instead is real responsibility, equity upside tied to your performance, a certificate, and the kind of experience that's hard to get anywhere else at this stage. There are no contractual obligations and no fixed hours — we care about output, not clocking in.

If that sounds like your kind of thing, apply and tell us which fandoms or communities you're actually part of.
