Company Description

Wyedean Housing Association is a small, community-based housing provider operating across south west Gloucestershire and south Herefordshire. The association owns and manages over 400 homes in more than 25 locations, supporting single people, families, and some residents in accommodation designed for older community members. Wyedean also manages properties on behalf of other organisations and individual owners, helping to meet varied local housing needs. The association is governed by a voluntary Board of Management and is registered with the Homes & Communities Agency and the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).

Role Description

The Community Housing Officer is a full-time, on-site role based in Coleford. The role involves managing tenancies and housing services for residents, including lettings, tenancy sign-ups, income management, and ongoing tenancy support.

Daily tasks include:

  • Responding to resident enquiries
  • Addressing and recording anti-social behaviour reports
  • Conducting home visits and estate inspections
  • Coordinating with external agencies where needed

The officer supports residents in maintaining successful tenancies, promotes community cohesion, and helps ensure properties are well-managed and maintained. The role also includes maintaining accurate records, preparing reports, and contributing to service improvements and housing policies.

Qualifications

  • Strong tenancy and housing management skills, including Tenancy Management and Housing Management.
  • Experience in identifying, addressing, and preventing Anti-social Behaviour within residential communities.
  • Experience of a supportive management of rent accounts.
  • Ability to provide Supportive Housing services, including signposting to support agencies and assisting residents to sustain tenancies.
  • Excellent Communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively with residents, colleagues, and partner organisations.
  • Knowledge of social housing regulations and best practices, with a commitment to fair and inclusive service delivery.
  • Strong organisational and record-keeping skills, with attention to detail and ability to manage a varied caseload.
  • Confidence in working independently on-site across different locations, including conducting visits and inspections.
  • Relevant experience in housing, community work, or a related field; a housing-related qualification or training (e.g., CIH) is an advantage.

This role requires you to be predominantly out visiting residents and working on our estates. You will be based at our offices in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire.

Applicants must be able to travel across the region as required and therefore access to a vehicle is essential.
