The Role
A highly skilled and motivated Band 6 Registered Learning Disability Nurse working within the East Renfrewshire Learning Disability Team. The role involves delivering evidence-based interventions, supporting individuals with learning disabilities and complex health needs, and contributing to high-quality, person-centred care within an integrated multidisciplinary service.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern
- Permanent, Full-time
- Shift Pattern - 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
- Base Location - Barrhead Health and Care Centre
Key Responsibilities
- Manage an independent caseload and ensure high standards of care quality, safety and clinical activity.
- Provide clinical leadership, advice and guidance across key quality areas, including effective interventions, patient experience and care environment.
- Contribute to team leadership and ongoing service development to meet the needs of patients and families.
- Act as a role model by mentoring, teaching, assessing and supporting students and colleagues.
- Work collaboratively with senior nurses across the HSCP and promote the role of Learning Disability nursing to internal and external partners.
- Build transparent and effective networks with stakeholders and partner services.
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate evidence-based care for individuals with complex and changing needs.
- Deliver specialist clinical interventions and treatment to meet assessed healthcare needs.
- Develop liaison between community and specialist organisations (acute services, local authorities, voluntary organisations).
- Support strategic aims, research and development of the community learning disability service and nurse education.
- Implement and monitor quality assurance systems within a Clinical Governance framework.

Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and/or Experience Required to do the Job
- Registered Learning Disability Nurse with extensive experience.
- Ability to evidence delivery of evidence-based interventions.
- Strong understanding of legislation relevant to adults with learning disabilities.
- Experience in Positive Behavioural Support (PBS).
- Advanced communication skills.
- Knowledge and expertise in promoting and maintaining optimum health for adults with learning disabilities and complex needs.
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary team (advantageous).
- Ability to demonstrate professional leadership regularly.
- Understanding of issues impacting adults with learning disabilities and appropriate actions to support them.
