The organization connects aspiring professionals with experienced mentors who offer guidance, support, and insights to help them navigate the tech landscape. Through one-on-one mentorship, career coaching, and practical advice, participants gain confidence, sharpen their skills, and move closer to their professional goals. DataHER Africa believes mentorship is a powerful catalyst for growth and is committed to making expert guidance accessible. The goal is to cultivate a thriving, collaborative network of women in data where knowledge and encouragement are shared to help each person succeed in a data-driven world.
Role Description
The Community Manager is a remote, Volunteer role responsible for nurturing and growing the DataHER Africa community. This role includes:

- Managing online community spaces
- Moderating discussions
- Ensuring a welcoming and inclusive environment for mentors and mentees
- Coordinating events such as workshops, webinars, and networking sessions
- Promoting events across communication channels
- Engaging with community members
- Responding to inquiries
- Gathering feedback
- Supporting participants throughout their mentorship journey
- Collaborating with the core team to improve community programs
- Tracking engagement metrics
- Contributing ideas to strengthen community impact

Qualifications
- Community engagement and management skills, including experience moderating online communities and fostering inclusive spaces.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and support diverse community members.
- Organizational and coordination skills, including experience planning events, managing schedules, and tracking participation.
- Comfort with digital tools and platforms used for community management, collaboration, and virtual events.
- Understanding or interest in data, AI, or the broader tech ecosystem, and enthusiasm for mentoring and career development.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage time effectively, and deliver on agreed timelines.
- Prior experience in community management, program coordination, or nonprofit/mission-driven organizations is beneficial.
- Relevant education or training in communications, social sciences, business, or a related field is an advantage but not required.
