About Zebra People
Zebra People build Product, Design and Engineering teams for mission-led, VC-backed startups and scaleups across sectors including fintech, healthtech and climatetech.
From finding product-market fit to scaling with confidence, we’ve spent 25 years helping ambitious companies hire the people who turn great ideas into successful products.
AI can screen for skills. But recognising character, team fit and potential still takes a human eye. That judgement matters more than ever.
We believe the best technology should leave the world better than it found it: healthcare more accessible, finance fairer and the planet more livable. And it starts with the people building it.
About the role
Zebra People runs a calendar of community events for people working in product, design and engineering, from lightning talk evenings to curated breakfast series for senior leaders.
We're hiring a Community & Events Manager to own these end to end: making sure the right people are in the room, keeping the community alive between events, and making it worth speakers' and hosts' time to keep coming back.
This is a community and events role, not a sales role. Your job is to build the audience, the content, and the relationships that make our events valuable.
What you'll do
Getting the right people in the room
- Work with the events team to curate attendees and speakers against agreed personas
- Source and secure lightning talk speakers for each edition
- Manage end to end event logistics, with venues confirmed at least two months out and a viable backup in place
- Launch and run a recurring breakfast series for senior product, design and engineering leaders, with small, curated cohorts agreed with the team
- Plan and run other community events for the business as they arise

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
Keeping the community relevant between events
- Record each event's talks, including video and audio
- Edit footage into full length video and bite sized clips, and run a content calendar that spreads output across the year rather than clustering around event dates
- Manage community channels and communications so members stay engaged month round, not just around events
- Track what's landing, including attendance, content reach and community engagement, and use it to sharpen future editions
Looking after hosts and speakers
- Maintain a host pack and speaker pack that make a genuine case for why it's worth their time
- Collect testimonials, photos and highlights from every event to keep packs current and credible
- Make sure every host and speaker leaves with real value, great content, visibility and a well run event, so they say yes again and refer others
What we're looking for
- Relevant experience, including a role, placement, internship, or a track record of building or running a community alongside or during a degree, such as a society, student group, online community or campus event series
- Evidence of having grown something from scratch, including an audience, following, membership or attendance, is more important to us than formal job titles
- Excellent written communication, comfortable writing in a brand voice across LinkedIn, email and community channels
- Strong, active social media instincts, with an understanding of what performs on LinkedIn specifically, not just generalist social media experience
- Comfortable shooting and lightly editing video/audio content, using tools such as iPhone plus basic editing software like CapCut or Premiere Rush. Full production house skills are not required
- Organised self starter, able to manage logistics and deadlines, including venues and speakers, two plus months out without close supervision
- A test and learn mindset, comfortable trying a new format, channel or approach, but always with a clear way to measure whether it worked before rolling it out further
- Genuine interest in product, design or tech, or a fast willingness to learn the space and its language.
