About AFG

At AFG, we pursue the vision of empowering our people to build African companies into global champions. We do this by catalysing a more enabling private-sector environment for African businesses through technology. AFG is proudly home to three core brands to fulfil this mission: African Hidden Champions, the leading scaling platform for homegrown mid-sized businesses in Africa backed by top partners; AHEAD, an online learning community of Africa’s top young professionals looking to have impact in African organisations; and Peralta, our flagship marketplace that allows top African freelancers to work on projects that advance the African private sector.

About AHEAD

AHEAD is Africa’s leading talent accelerator and platform for ambitious African professionals. Through an immersive four-month “mini-MBA”, delivered through our proprietary platform and an active peer-learning community, AHEAD equips learners with business and AI skills, transforming them into highly sought-after African professionals and “superworkers”. Upon graduation, the most successful learners may be invited to join Peralta, our exclusive future-of-work platform and freelancer community.

12-month success definition

Within your first 12 months, you will have helped successfully relaunch and grow the AHEAD community, building a vibrant, inclusive, and technology-enabled space where learners and alumni genuinely want to participate.

  • At least 60% of learners will remain active on the AHEAD platform at any given time, and at least 80% of members will report that the community meaningfully supports their professional growth.
  • At least 20% of graduates will remain active contributors within the alumni network, while at least 20% of top graduates will be connected to meaningful flexible or full-time work opportunities through collaboration with colleagues, partners, and the Peralta team.

You will also have established scalable systems for onboarding, engagement, communications, events, learner tracking, alumni participation, and career progression. These systems will enable AHEAD to support multiple cohorts and a growing alumni network without sacrificing programme quality, belonging, or meaningful personal connection.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Top tasks

We believe in an all-hands culture at AFG where we work closely together flexibly to achieve our goals. As AHEAD Community Manager, your work will focus on, but will not be limited to, the following:

  • Define and deliver the AHEAD community engagement strategy: Collaborate in the design and development of AHEAD’s community strategy as the primary learner advocate. Lead implementation, active engagement, and continuous improvement, ensuring every learner is equipped for success and each cohort is stronger than the last.
  • Champion learners and alumni: Be the warm, consistent presence that keeps the learner community engaged and motivated. Facilitate meaningful discussions, celebrate milestones, respond to challenges, and create an environment where every learner feels seen, supported, and inspired to continue.
  • Support cohort recruitment and selection: Work with marketing, programme, and technology colleagues to translate target learner profiles into effective, technology-enabled recruitment campaigns, assessments, and selection processes. Help ensure applicants are identified and routed into the right programme, with a clear journey from application through onboarding.
  • Track progress and use data to improve the programme: Monitor learner journeys, participation, achievements, and engagement patterns. Identify challenges early, develop useful insights, and translate data into practical improvements while celebrating what is working.
  • Connect graduates with opportunity: Work with colleagues, partners, and the Peralta team to help top graduates access relevant flexible or full-time work opportunities. Ensure learner development, community participation, and alumni activity support successful career progression.
  • Nurture the alumni network: Keep the alumni community active through ongoing conversations, resource-sharing, events, and peer support. Create a network that graduates return to not only for opportunities, but also for connection, learning, and belonging.
  • Lead community and platform operations: Ensure that the AHEAD platform and community run smoothly day to day. Manage announcements, events, surveys, user access, onboarding, routine communications, and learner queries. Keep content fresh and relevant, take ownership of problem-solving, and escalate urgent issues appropriately.
  • Build technology-enabled systems for scale: Improve the systems and processes behind community management, using platform technology, automation, and AI thoughtfully to support more efficient, insight-driven, and personalised learner engagement without losing genuine human connection.

Role persona

I am a community leader who knows how to build genuine connection at scale. In my past roles, I have helped education, talent, professional-development, or mission-driven organisations create communities where people feel a sense of belonging and remain actively engaged over time.

I combine warmth and empathy with strong operational discipline. I enjoy helping people grow, facilitating meaningful conversations, and celebrating progress, while also taking ownership of the systems, data, processes, and follow-through required to run a growing community effectively.

I am comfortable working in a remote-first, technology-enabled environment and using digital platforms, AI, automation, data, and online learning tools to improve the learner experience. I do not see technology as a substitute for human connection; I use it to make community support more consistent, personalised, and scalable.

I care deeply about the ambitions and experiences of young African professionals and believe that AHEAD can play a defining role in helping them learn, connect, and access meaningful opportunities. I am motivated by the opportunity to build a vibrant community that strengthens professional development, deepens alumni loyalty, and advances the future of work in Africa.
