Community Manager (Volunteer & Remote)
Company Description
Firewood Digital is a small indie game development studio based in Scotland, focused on creating cosy games with deep, immersive stories and engaging gameplay systems.
We’re dedicated to creating unforgettable worlds that invite players to explore, interact, and uncover intriguing narratives at their own pace.
We’re currently developing our flagship title, Moonlight, a 2D open-world survival crafting game centred on player-driven storytelling, environmental interaction, and exploration. Moonlight features systems including dynamic health, changing weather, evolving environments, farming, exploration, crafting, and automation, creating a world that reacts to how the player chooses to survive.
Role Description
The Community Manager will be responsible for building and supporting the community around Firewood Digital and our games.
You’ll be the main point of contact between Firewood Digital and our community, helping us create an active, welcoming, and inclusive space where players can discuss our games, share feedback, ask questions, and follow development.
You’ll work closely with the development team to turn what we’re working on into things people actually want to see and talk about, while helping us build a community that can grow alongside Firewood Digital.
The role will include:
- Managing and moderating community spaces, including Discord and other relevant platforms.
- Engaging with players and responding to questions, comments, and feedback.
- Planning and publishing community updates, announcements, and development content.
- Working with the development team to turn development progress into engaging community content.
- Sharing behind-the-scenes content, development updates, feature previews, patch notes, and other project news.
- Helping manage Firewood Digital’s social media presence and community calendar.
- Organising community events, activities, competitions, or other opportunities for players to get involved.
- Gathering and organising player feedback and communicating useful insights to the development team.
- Monitoring community sentiment and engagement and providing regular updates to the team.
- Helping grow the community ahead of upcoming demos, events, and release.
- Representing Firewood Digital in a friendly, professional, and inclusive manner.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
