Community Mapper
The Department of Architecture are seeking a highly motivated Community Mapper to join a small local team working as part of a large, national project. This role can be full time or part time and will be fixed term until 31 March 2028.
About the Role
Working flexibly from the Department, the Cambridge Room community space, remotely, as well as in collaboration with partners in community locations, this role will help deliver an exciting and intense participatory research project working with local communities to develop digital community made maps of the region that will help foster sustainable behaviours. Our focus is on empowering children and young people to have a voice in planning. The role is open to those wishing to job-share.
The community mappers work in schools, leisure centres and events across Cambridgeshire helping children and young people create data for our community made maps. While the focus is on working with children and young people, mapping workshops and other activities will be available to all age groups. The maps are digital, based on Open Street Map and uMap. Sometimes hand-made maps will be made with the data being transferred into digital formats.

Key Responsibilities
- Work in various community locations across Cambridgeshire
- Engage with children and young people to create data for community maps
- Conduct mapping workshops and other activities for all age groups
- Create both digital and hand-made maps
- Collaborate with partners and project teams
- Receive full training in mapping software
- Travel to Wales for project collaboration (opportunities may be available)
