The Role
An opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Community Mental Health Nurse Specialist within the Inverclyde Adult Community Mental Health Team. This integrated, multidisciplinary team provides comprehensive assessment, treatment and support to individuals with complex mental health needs, as well as their families and carers, across the Inverclyde area. Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
- Permanent Role, full-time
- Crown House, Greenock
- 36 Hours per week (0900 - 1700, Shift Pattern to be confirmed)
Key Responsibilities
- You will manage your own caseload and work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality mental health care.
- This will include undertaking the role of Care Manager for CPA registered cases and facilitating the Physical Health and Wellbeing Clinic, including responsibility for governance matters associated with the service.
- You will maintain high clinical and professional standards, provide professional leadership and supervision to junior staff, and contribute to service development, governance activities and quality improvement initiatives.
- The post may also involve supporting or rotating into the Community Response Service, which provides urgent assessment and intervention for individuals experiencing mental health difficulties.
- The service is committed to continuous professional development and will support training and development opportunities relevant to the role.

Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and/or Experience Required to Do the Job
Essential
- Registered Mental Health Nurse with current NMC registration.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
- Significant experience working within a community mental health setting.
- Possession of, working towards, or willingness to undertake a recordable qualification relevant to the post (e.g. BA, BSc or Diploma).
Preferred
- Demonstrable commitment to working with individuals with complex mental health needs, particularly those presenting with psychosis and substance misuse co-morbidity.
- Working knowledge of current best practice, evidence-based interventions and effective models of mental health care.
- Sound understanding of leadership principles and experience supporting the development of colleagues.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and service improvement.
