Are you a qualified Psychiatric Nurse passionate about mental health and supporting people with severe mental illness towards their recovery?

Are you newly qualified and seeking an opportunity to step up from a band 5 role and gain more experience?

If so, then why not consider applying for this role!

The Abingdon Team is part of the South Oxfordshire Adult Mental Health Team (AMHT), a busy and dynamic service that places patient-centred care at the heart of everything we do. We are a highly motivated multidisciplinary team, committed to delivering high-quality assessment, treatment, and recovery-focused interventions to adults experiencing mental health difficulties.

We are currently seeking a qualified Mental Health Nurse to join our friendly and supportive team on a full time basis. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, psychologists, support workers, and other partner agencies to provide holistic care to our local population.

You will be based within Abingdon Community Hospital.

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Assessment of new patients referred into the AMHT
  • Brief follow-up work with patients who require that work following assessment
  • When working with people who have been admitted to hospital, actively working alongside inpatient services to support good quality discharge planning
  • Holding a caseload of patients who require longer-term follow-up from the AMHT
  • Multi-professional and multi-agency liaison with other services in the local community

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
