Eastbourne Community Midwives Opportunity

Eastbourne Community Midwives offer a unique and rewarding opportunity to work across both community and birth centre settings. Based at Eastbourne District General Hospital, our integrated team provides holistic antenatal and postnatal care while also supporting our on-call birth service for local families.

This varied role allows you to build meaningful relationships with women and their families throughout their maternity journey, combining the autonomy of community practice with the excitement and fulfilment of supporting births within our welcoming birth centre. As part of our supportive and collaborative team, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference to the experiences and outcomes of the families we care for.

This is an exciting opportunity to provide personalised care to women, pregnant people, and their families throughout the antenatal and postnatal periods. You will manage your own caseload, developing meaningful relationships and delivering continuity of care during a significant time in people's lives.

If you are passionate about continuity of care, enjoy working autonomously while being part of a supportive team, and are committed to delivering exceptional maternity care, we would love to hear from you.

We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated midwives to join our friendly and supportive Community Midwifery Team in Eastbourne.

As part of our integrated community team, you will also contribute to our on-call birth service, supporting births in out-of-hospital settings, including home births and within the Eastbourne DGH Standalone Birth Centre. This unique role offers the opportunity to experience the full scope of midwifery practice, combining community-based care with intrapartum support.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
