About the Project:
Slow Game Club is a book club for games. Every single month you get a new game, for a year. Alongside each monthly game, you can be part of our lovely community in Discord. We have curated chats, prompts, and discussions. At the end of the month, ask your burning questions directly to the developers in a live podcast.
Slow Game Club is run by Into Games, the social mobility charity for the games industry. That means unlike other subscriptions 100% of the cost goes to charity to help kids from low-income backgrounds in the UK build a career making video games. One single membership helps fund games careers workbooks for 30 young people on free school meals.

The Role:
We’re looking for a moderator for our well curated and invite-only Discord community. We focus on knowledge driven, wholesome and organic engagement. Most of our channels are discussions on current and previous games of the year. This includes spoilers, dev q&a and discussion.
This is an entry level role and we’re willing to train candidates who understand community management but do not have much experience with it. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about making SGC Discord a wholesome place for dedicated games chatter.
Key responsibilities:
- Engage actively with community in an organic way
- Be available to work in BST or EST
- Create a bi-monthly content timeline for engagement
- Check the ‘ask the snails’ channel a few times a week and answer any queries.
- Coordinate with the community manager and other moderator to schedule any specific times you will not be available
- Handle situations that need troubleshooting
- Play the game of the month and/or prepare to participate in the live monthly discussion event.
- Escalate and take appropriate actions as per the Moderation rules and guidelines
- Be respectful to our community and your fellow moderator
- Report directly to the community manager
