Overall responsibility of the job:
To manage the work of Carmarthen Community Money Advice as part of the wider vision of CFMA, ensuring that all areas of provision are run efficiently and to a high standard, in accordance with CMA and FCA requirements. To also ensure that all aspects of the work of CMA reflect the values of CFMA.
In partnership with the Foodbank Manager, the CMA Manager will provide strategic leadership and direction for our central mission to tackle poverty and reduce foodbank use.
Specific responsibilities:
Reporting
- Provide the Board of Trustees with regular reports on the activity of Carmarthen CMA.
- Bring to the attention of the Board of Trustees any concerns regarding the day-to-day operation of Carmarthen CMA.
CMA compliance
- Ensure that all Carmarthen CMA processes and procedures are followed in line with CMA and FCA requirements and expectations.
Local CMA provision
- To manage the day-to-day running of Carmarthen CMA.
- To ensure Carmarthen CMA provides a warm and welcoming environment for all.
- To recruit, support and supervise a team of trained advisers to provide debt advice and debt counselling to clients who are in debt or need budgeting support.
- To recruit and manage a team of volunteers to support the work of CMA.
- To develop and sustain strategic links with a broad range of statutory and voluntary agencies.
- To develop and maintain an active community profile via social media.
- To work as a debt adviser alongside other advisers.
- To keep abreast of current legislation, welfare reforms and local information, ensuring that information is appropriately disseminated to the staff team.
- To review and update our policies and procedures in line with the FCA as well as affiliated relationship with Community Money Advice and AdviceUK.
- To be aware of updates to the client software package (Catalyst), communicating the information to the team, and ensure centre information is kept up to date and accurate.
- To liaise with clients and creditors in a timely fashion by telephone, email and/or letter.

Office Duties:
- Ensure that written records and copies of all correspondence are filed appropriately with regards to CMA procedure and GDPR regulations
- To maintain, review and order the appropriate resources for the efficient running of CMA.
- To maintain an up-to-date supply and copies of the various documents, templates and forms used by CMA.
- To maintain sufficient stock of office equipment, stationery and stamps including hospitality products such as tea/coffee and biscuits for client use.
- To assist in quality assurance processes for the centre, including reviewing client files to ensure the centre is FCA compliant.
Budgetary Responsibilities
- Work alongside the trustee responsible for finance to create detailed expense and revenue projections for CMA, including grant funding.
- Track and review everyday spending in line with CFMA policies and procedures.
Public Relations
- Be an effective ambassador for Carmarthen CMA and the work of CFMA.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to promote the work of CFMA.
- Raise awareness through social media channels and other events.

Quality Assurance
- Undertake regular reviews of CMA provision, including client surveys, and identify areas for development and improvement.
Safeguarding
- To be the Lead Safeguarding Officer for CMA and ensure that the CFMA Safeguarding Policy is implemented by staff and volunteers.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Experience:
- Planning and organising people and tasks.
- Leading and working as part of a team.
- Handling difficult situations, including conflict and aggression.
- Experience of providing supervision, support, training and guidance to team members
Knowledge and skills:
- Must have successfully completed MAS Accredited training to Advice Level (CMA Parts 1 & 2 and in-house training) or be willing to undertake training in the first 4 weeks of the role.
- Hold a full driving licence.
- Good communication skills both verbal and written.
- Ability to relate to and work confidently and sensitively with vulnerable clients, people from a variety of backgrounds, and volunteer advisers.
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail.
- Competent in the use of a range of IT software.
- Ability to be self-motivated and to work to a high standard with minimal supervision.
- Good presentation skills, and competent at running training sessions/courses.
- Ability to demonstrate a sincere commitment to the vision and values of CFMA.
