Band 6 Community Psychiatric Nurse
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Community Psychiatric Nurse to join our team in the Havering Mental Health & Wellness Team North. We are seeking an experienced, motivated and compassionate mental health nurse to join us in providing high quality, person-centred care within a community setting. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support individuals experiencing a range of mental health and wellbeing needs, working as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver timely, responsive, and recovery-focused interventions.
The post holder will play a key role in assessing needs, planning and delivering interventions, and supporting individuals to improve their mental health, resilience, and overall wellbeing. You will work collaboratively with service users, carers, and partner agencies to ensure a holistic approach to care, promoting recovery, independence, and reducing reliance on secondary services.
The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, sound clinical judgement, and a commitment to delivering safe, effective, and compassionate care.
This role is ideal for someone who is proactive, flexible, and passionate about improving access to mental health support within the community, while contributing to continuous service development and innovation.
Main duties of the job
- To work flexibly within the demands of the service
- To be responsible, and accountable, for service delivery to clients/patients.
- To be able to assess and develop plans of care to meet the complex needs of patients with a variety of conditions.
- To be responsible for providing accurate records of information required by the Trust for audit purposes.
- To ensure effective risk management at team level by accident/incident reporting, assessing and controlling risk.
- To provide supervision to junior colleagues.
- To be computer literate.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- The ability to travel to a variety of sites.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
The post holder will operate as a senior nurse to support duty and care coordination. The successful candidate will work closely within a multi-disciplinary team and other agencies to deliver high-quality evidence-based recovery-focused health and social care interventions that includes managing risk and the Safeguarding of vulnerable adults.
The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the development and improvement of service delivery, provide managerial supervision to junior colleagues, and to work closely with GPs to ensure the safe discharge of mental health patients to primary care.
Starting with NELFT
NELFT places a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training, and the allocation of equipment. The induction will be held at our head office in Goodmayes.

Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).
High Cost Area Supplement Outer London
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,870 to a maximum of £6,137 p.a. pro rata for part time).
