The Lancaster & Morecambe Older Adults Community Mental Health Team (CMHT OA)

The Lancaster & Morecambe Older Adults Community Mental Health Team (CMHT OA) are looking to recruit a Band 5 Community Mental Health Nurse. This is a part-time position of 22.5 hours. The team is based at DeVitre House in Lancaster and covers the Lancaster & Morecambe district. The team operates between Monday – Friday, 09:00hrs – 17:00hrs.

About the Role

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic RMN who is driven to provide excellent mental health services to the local older adult population. The post-holder will demonstrate compassionate caring behaviours, have excellent communication skills, be reliable and work well within a team. You will be able to work calmly and efficiently whilst being adaptable to changing situations, remaining focused on providing a person-centred approach to care and treatment.

You will be working with a supportive and dynamic team, who always strive to achieve the best possible outcomes for their patients. We have a wide range of skills and experience within our team which make it the perfect environment to develop your skills through hands on experience and challenges.

Core Responsibilities

  • Oversee and monitor your own caseload.
  • Provide quality care and treatment programmes to patients over the age of 65 with a variety of complex mental health difficulties.
  • Work collaboratively with patients, carers and other professionals / agencies whilst working in patients’ homes or community environments.
  • Work within a MDT to support patients in the community to remain at home and prevent hospital admission.
  • Undertake a range of other generic clinical duties to support the team functions and be responsive to the needs of patients, their family and carers.
  • Receive regular caseload Clinical Supervision and Line Management Supervision to support you in the role and for development.
  • Supervise the practice of student nurses and unqualified staff.
