What Difference Will You Make?
As our Community Outreach Lead, you will help Disability Equals Ability build strong, lasting partnerships that increase our reach and create new opportunities for the people we support. By connecting with businesses, community organizations, schools, and other stakeholders, you'll help us develop collaborative projects, strengthen community engagement, and raise awareness of our mission. Your work will enable us to reach more individuals with disabilities, expand our services, and build a stronger, more connected and inclusive community.
What Are We Looking For?
We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds who are passionate about creating more inclusive communities and improving opportunities for people with disabilities. While previous experience in outreach or community engagement is beneficial, we value enthusiasm, initiative, and a genuine commitment to our mission just as highly.
Our Ideal Volunteer Will Have
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to engage with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to develop positive partnerships with community groups, charities, businesses, schools, healthcare providers, and other organizations.
- A proactive and self-motivated approach, with the ability to identify opportunities and take initiative.
- A genuine passion for disability inclusion, equality, and community development.
- Good organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple activities and follow up on opportunities.
- The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the Programme Manager and wider volunteer team.
- Confidence representing the charity professionally at meetings, networking events, and community activities.
- Good written communication skills for emails, partnership proposals, and basic reporting.
- Basic digital skills, including email, Microsoft Office or Google Workspace, and virtual meeting platforms.
- Reliability, professionalism, and a positive attitude.

Desirable Experience Includes
- Community outreach or community engagement.
- Partnership development or stakeholder engagement.

- Volunteer coordination, networking, or public speaking.
- Knowledge of disability issues, equality, diversity, and inclusion, although this is not essential as training will be provided.

What Will You Be Doing?
We are looking for a proactive and relationship-focused Community Outreach Lead to help expand Disability Equals Ability's reach by building strong partnerships and creating opportunities that benefit the people we support.

As our Community Outreach Coordinator, you will lead the charity's outreach activities, acting as the main point of contact for organizations, businesses, community groups, educational institutions, and other stakeholders. Your focus will be on developing meaningful partnerships that create opportunities for collaborative projects, community initiatives, volunteering, training, and fundraising.
Working closely with our Leadership and Program team, you will identify organizations whose values align with our mission and build long-term relationships that increase our impact. You'll represent the charity at networking events, meetings, and community activities, promoting our services and identifying opportunities to work together on projects that improve the lives of individuals with disabilities.
This is a strategic and hands-on role where you'll help develop and deliver an outreach plan, coordinate partnership activities, maintain relationships with existing partners, and identify new opportunities for growth. You'll also work across the organization to ensure outreach activities support our strategic priorities, increase community awareness, and strengthen our reputation as an inclusive and trusted charity.
