Community Programmes Coordinator – Employment & Skills
Are you passionate about helping people develop their skills, access employment opportunities, and achieve their goals? Join Newground Together as a Community Programmes Coordinator – Employment & Skills and lead a frontline team delivering employment and skills programmes across Calderdale.
You'll provide leadership and support to your team, build strong partnerships with local organisations and stakeholders, and ensure projects deliver meaningful outcomes for individuals and communities. This varied role combines people leadership, project coordination, partnership working, and performance management, helping to grow and enhance our employment and skills offer while making a real difference to local people.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate, and support a frontline team delivering supported employment and skills projects across Calderdale.
- Provide coaching, guidance, and development to help the team deliver person-centred support and achieve positive employment outcomes.
- Promote and embed an IPS-informed approach to employment and skills, ensuring support is tailored to people facing significant barriers to employment.
- Build positive relationships with Together Housing colleagues, participants, tenants, funders, community organisations, and external partners.
- Develop and maintain strong partnership networks, identifying opportunities for referrals, joint projects, and new activities.
- Oversee project and contract performance, ensuring targets, outcomes, and quality standards are achieved.
- Monitor performance and identify underperformance, putting improvement plans in place where needed.
- Lead on project monitoring, evaluation, and reporting, ensuring accurate and timely information is provided to funders and internal stakeholders.
- Manage project budgets, monitor income and expenditure, and ensure resources are used effectively.
- Identify local funding opportunities and contribute to funding bids to support the development of employment and skills services.
- Listen to participants and understand their needs, ensuring feedback is used to shape and improve services.
- Promote continuous improvement by sharing best practice, identifying new ideas, and finding more effective ways of working.
- Ensure projects and community venues meet relevant health and safety, safeguarding, GDPR, and equality, diversity, and inclusion requirements.
- Act as a positive ambassador for Newground Together, promoting the impact of our work across Calderdale.

We’re Looking For Someone Who Has…
- Relevant experience of working in employment and skills, community development, or a similar environment.
- Experience of managing, motivating, and developing staff, creating a positive and inclusive team culture.
- Experience of developing and delivering community-based employment and skills projects within a multi-stakeholder environment.
- Experience of building effective partnerships across the statutory, voluntary, and community sectors.
- Experience of managing budgets and working towards agreed performance targets and outcomes.
- Experience of working with customers or participants and involving them in the development and improvement of services.
- Knowledge of national and local programmes, services, and priorities relating to community support, employment, and skills.
- An understanding of the challenges faced by people living in communities experiencing high levels of deprivation.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and the policies and legislation relating to young people and vulnerable adults.
- Experience of reporting to external funding bodies would be an advantage.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with a wide range of people.
- Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver against deadlines.
- The ability to monitor, evaluate, and continuously improve projects and services.
- The ability to undertake risk assessments and take appropriate action to manage risk.
- An NVQ Level 3 in Youth and Community Work, Information, Advice & Guidance, or a relevant qualification would be desirable.
- A full driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for business use.

- Starting salary: £42,195
- Generous holidays: 27 days annual leave (rising to 32 days with service) plus bank holidays
- Flexible working: SMART working arrangements. You will spend approximately 4 days working on-site and 1 day working from home.
- You will be working in and around Calderdale, covering our hub delivery areas in Halifax, Elland, and Pellon.
