Job Title: Community Projects Coordinator (Gig Buddies and Equal Futures)
Location: Home based with local travel across Edinburgh and the Lothians
Contract: Temporary – 12 months (We operate flexi time and flexible working)
Hours: 15.6 hours per week
Salary: £13,006.74 per annum
Start Date: ASAP

The Role
The Community Project Coordinator will be responsible for planning and facilitating a range of social events as part of Thera Trust’s Gig Buddies and Equal Futures projects project in Edinburgh and the Lothians.
The post holder will work with the rest of the community projects team, project members, and our volunteers, in developing a social events calendar that meets the needs of people we support and achieves project outcomes as stated in the project funding. Specific time and skill will need to be applied by the role holder to carrying out essential planning and administrative tasks associated with quality assurance, and project impact reporting. This includes speaking with people we support to better understand the barriers they face in accessing events, liaising with our venue partners across the community, and collecting impact and evaluation feedback. The Community Project Coordinator will be responsible for managing their own workload and then reporting to the Community Project Manager, they will therefore need to be organized and motivated.

We are Thera Trust. We’re a national charity working towards a more inclusive society, where people with learning disabilities are empowered to lead and live great lives. We were set up in 1998 to support people with learning disabilities to move on from institutional care into a home of their own. Our founding belief was that people with learning disabilities can be leaders in society, and this belief continues to be practised at every level of our organisation, from how we lead to how we engage with the people we work with.
Alongside our lived experience leadership approach, we have developed a solid reputation for providing high quality, person first support that promotes choice and independence.
We currently support over 3,000 people with learning disabilities, with each person receiving support tailored to their needs and aspirations.
Some of the support we can offer includes supported living, community support, short breaks, employment and training, community projects and financial advocacy (money, banking and benefits).
Gig Buddies
Gig Buddies is a project that matches people with a learning disability with volunteers to attend events together. Gig Buddies enables adults with a learning disability to get out to the events they love. This could be music, theatre, sport; it's whatever your 'gig' is. We do this by running regular social events, inviting people into their local community, and by pairing members to a Gig Buddy. This is a volunteer who shares the same interests. This way, we hope to create meaningful relationships based around the things people love.

Equal Futures
Equal Futures supports the creation of lasting relationships for people with a learning disability and autism and their families. We help people plan to reach their goals, build social connections, and stay safe with our Circles of support model. Our community is here to support people with a learning disability and autism to live an equal life to their peers and assure their loved ones of a safe and fulfilled future. Your Experience
In order to be considered for this role you will;
- Have experience of project coordination and the ability to develop and deliver schedules, resources and people.
- Have a keen interest in the arts and events.

- Be a confident and natural communicator.
- Be passionate about promoting independence for those with a Learning Disability.
