The Role
Are you a passionate and experienced Mental Health Nurse looking to take the next step in your career? NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking a dedicated Band 6 Community Psychiatric Nurse to join our Community Mental Health Team. In this rewarding role, you will provide specialist mental health care, support service users with complex needs, and lead nursing colleagues within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment. A current driving licence is required for the post. As part of the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s pre-employment checking for all appointed candidates, evidence of current NMC Registration will be required before start date. This post requires a PVG Scheme Membership/Disclosure Scotland check.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern
- Location: Arran Resource Centre
- Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00
- Employment Type: Permanent, full-time
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate a community caseload, undertaking assessments, care planning, reviews and discharge planning
- Provide clinical leadership, supervision and support to nursing staff and healthcare support workers within the team
- Deliver specialist mental health interventions and crisis support for service users with complex health and social care needs
- Develop and maintain effective therapeutic relationships with service users, carers and partner agencies
- Support clinical governance activities, including quality improvement, risk management and implementation of evidence-based practice
- Contribute to the development of local policies, procedures and service improvements across mental health services
- Participate in multidisciplinary working, facilitating effective communication and coordination of care across services

Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and/or Experience Required to Do the Job
- First Level Registered Mental Nurse (RMN) qualification with current professional registration
- Significant post-registration nursing experience within a relevant mental health setting
- Demonstrable experience of managing complex mental health cases within community services
- Evidence of ongoing continuous professional development and commitment to lifelong learning
- Strong leadership, mentoring and supervisory skills with the ability to support and develop colleagues
- Excellent communication, organisational and analytical skills with the ability to build effective working relationships
- Ability to assess risk, make autonomous clinical decisions and deliver safe, person-centred care within a multidisciplinary environment
