Northwood is currently accepting applications for a Part Time Community Programmer to join our team in Halifax and Bedford!
Reporting to:
Manager, Community Development & Support
Responsibilities
- Provides recreational leadership and coordination in the development of programs
- Implements and evaluates programs and services
- Builds financially sustainable programs
- Develops internal and external relationships to promote the program

Tasks
- Facilitates and participates in the implementation of programs and activities based on needs, interests and capabilities of members/clients
- Provides team leadership and coordination in all aspects of programs and clubs; works closely with program leaders, paid instructors and program committee
- Coordinates volunteer assignments within Community Recreation providing training and support when needed
- Develops and maintains communication links with multiple internal and external clients
- Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of departmental goals and objectives
- Ensures that the needs of internal and external clients are anticipated and satisfied
- Ensures programs and events are financially sustainable
- Assists in the development of promotional materials relating to the programs and events
- Coordinates all aspects of membership; Promotes membership growth
- Assists with administrative support needs of Community Recreation as it relates to membership, registration, ticket sales, point of sale system of office, daily deposits of sales and other admin needs of Community Recreation
- Provides callers, membership, clients and customers with appropriate assistance and information
- Participates as a member of the team in planning and department operations
- Performs other duties as required

The Ideal Candidate Will Possess The Following Qualifications
- Minimum one year experience in providing leadership in planning, implementing and evaluating recreation programs in a community based setting
- Previous experience working directly with seniors or at risk population is considered a strong asset
- Post secondary education in a related discipline
- Completed courses in Gerontology, Health Promotion, Kinesiology or Recreation are considered an asset
- Experience in geriatric programming is considered a strong asset
- Must be able to work well with people across various generations and socio-economic backgrounds
- Ability to work well under minimal supervision
- Must be able to work at all Northwood campuses as required
- Access to reliable transportation
Hours:
8 hours Bi-weekly (4-hour shifts)

As per the Northwood scale
