Are you passionate about making communities safer, cleaner and stronger? Do you enjoy working with people, solving problems and making a real difference in the places where people live and work?
At Stroud District Council, we're committed to tackling anti-social behaviour (ASB), environmental crime and community safety issues to help create safer, more welcoming neighbourhoods. Working closely with the Police, local partners and residents, you'll play an important role in addressing issues that matter most to our communities.
This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same. From investigating fly-tipping and responding to reports of anti-social behaviour, to engaging with residents and supporting multi-agency initiatives, you'll be at the forefront of improving quality of life across the district.
What You'll Be Doing
- Supporting the delivery of proactive and reactive initiatives to tackle anti-social behaviour, nuisance, crime and disorder across the district.
- Working directly with residents to address concerns, provide reassurance and improve confidence in local services.
- Delivering effective prevention, intervention and enforcement activities in partnership with internal teams and external agencies.
- Collaborating with the Stroud District Community Safety Partnership, Community Safety Manager, Police and other stakeholders to identify and resolve complex community safety challenges.
- Investigating reports of fly-tipping and environmental crime, gathering and documenting evidence, interviewing relevant parties and supporting enforcement action where appropriate.
- Conducting site visits, patrols and community engagement activities to identify local issues and opportunities for improvement.
- Contributing to the Council's vision of creating safer, stronger and more resilient communities.
What We're Looking For

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
